Hoa Nguyen

Hoa Nguyen’s books include Red Juice: Poems 1998–2008 (Wave Books, 2014), Violet Energy Ingots (Wave Books, 2016) and A Thousand Times You Lose Your Treasure (April 2021, Wave Books). Hoa teaches poetics for Miami University’s low residency MFA program, the Milton Avery School for Fine Arts at Bard College, and in a popular, long-running poetics workshop she leads from cyberspace and Toronto.

Hoa Nguyen is the author of eight books and chapbooks including As Long As Trees Last (Wave, 2012). She currently lives in Toronto where she teaches poetics in a private workshop and curates a reading series. Wave Books will release Red Juice, a gathering of her early, uncollected poems, in September 2014.

Born in the Mekong Delta and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Hoa Nguyen is the author of five books of poetry, including As Long As Trees Last and Red Juice. Her book Violet Energy Ingots, also from Wave Books, received a 2017 Griffin Prize for poetry nomination. She teaches poetics at Ryerson University, for Miami University’s low residency MFA program, for the Milton Avery School for Fine Arts at Bard College, and in a long-running, private workshop.
